It had been a long, tiring week, I had been shooting family sessions A LOT, and I was burnt out. I wasn't in love with photographing families anymore. I was seeking direction and not knowing where I wanted to take this business.
Did I want to stop photographing families and only do weddings? I was just conflicted and my heart was being pulled multiple directions. Then I arrived at the beach. As I was sitting there waiting on my clients to show up for their family photos, it hit me. This is what I love.
It wasn't that I was not in love with photographing families, but I didn't love photographing them in parks. I LOVED photographing them at the beach.
I don't know what it is about the beach, but it just feels like memories to me. I have always grown up near the beach, one of my favorite vacations was when we went to California and I saw my first west coast sunset on the beach, and I get to witness so many other families coming to this area for vacation.
So as you can see, the beach has always been special to me, and I love photographing memories for other families on beaches around the world.
1) We are not just "everyone look and smile" photographers.
We will do our best to get some look and smile shots, but our favorite photos are the ones where you're genuinely having a blast. Trust me when I say kids have much more fun when you let them play in the sand, have tickle fights, and be themselves. We strive to capture lots of genuine interaction in our family sessions and make sure everyone has a good time.
2) We are experts at shooting on the beach.
There are many photographers who will go to the beach when asked, but not many of them specialize in it. We know the beach like the back of our hands. We know what type of weather conditions to watch for, what time to start your session to get the perfect light, how to position you based on the sun (there's no shade on the beach!) and many other intricacies about the beach that allow us to give you the best experience possible.
3) We give you a back up date if you're coming from out of town!
If you know anything about Florida, you know that the weather can be very bipolar. For this reason, many times a shoot may get rained out. Most photographers won't block off two dates for one session, but we don't want you to miss your opportunity to get these beach photos, so we block off a shoot date and a backup date for you to greatly reduce the risk of your session being cancelled due to inclement weather.
